Smart Waste Management Program

Zero waste initiative

WHY WE CARE

At Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR), we believe in using our platform to drive positive environmental change. Our waste management program at Eden Gardens reflects our commitment to sustainability by reducing waste, promoting eco-friendly habits, and raising awareness among fans. We care because our actions, on and off the field, influence not just our fans but also the wider community. By leading with responsibility, we aim to inspire sustainable practices that extend far beyond the stadium, proving that sports can be a powerful force for positive change.

WHAT WE DO

KKR runs a comprehensive waste management initiative during IPL matches at Eden Gardens, transforming each game into a sustainability platform. Key actions include:

  • Setting up waste segregation stations.
  • Running food donation programs to reduce waste.
  • Promoting anti-litter messaging across the stadium.
  • Upcycling KKR flags and recycling materials.
  • Deploying a green team to guide spectators on waste practices.

With meticulous waste sorting and ongoing education for vendors and staff, KKR ensures over 10 types of waste are recycled or composted, making every match a step toward a cleaner future.
