In this article of #FlasbackFavourites we look back at a historic run-chase by KKR against the Gujarat Lions in 2017. Gautam Gambhir and Chris Lynn created history as KKR chased down 184 runs with all 10 wickets intact - the highest total chased down without losing any wicket.
KKR chose to bowl first after winning the toss in Rajkot. The KKR bowlers started off brilliantly and maintained relentless lines and lengths. They didn’t allow any batter to get away with boundaries or score at a heavy strike-rate. Kuldeep Yadav starred with an excellent 2/25 in his four overs while other bowlers played the supporting act. Despite the pressure applied by KKR bowlers, Suresh Raina was able to flourish alongside Dinesh Karthik. Both their knocks propelled GL to reach a competitive total of 184.
In the run-chase, Gambhir and Lynn came out all guns blazing . Both the batters took the attack right to the GL bowlers. They were able to get 73 runs in the powerplay, completely dominating the opposition. Both of them dominated the GL bowling attack and chased down such a big total without breaking a sweat. Skipper Gambhir stayed not out on 76 while Lynn blasted a fiery 93 of just 41 balls and smashed 8 sixes. A dominating effort resulted in a historic run-chase in T20 cricket as both batters made light work of the target. This epic game will always stay in the minds of all KKR fans.
