On the grandest stage of them all, two of the best teams of this season clashed in a much-anticipated final of IPL 2024 at the iconic Chepauk Stadium. Two heavyweight sides were on a collision course as both teams were equally dominant throughout the season and looked ahead to only one thing - Lifting the trophy. KKR were put into bowl first by SRH and they started the game with absolute dominance. Mitchell Starc knocked over Abhishek Sharma with a gorgeous delivery to start And from that ball onwards KKR called the shots and dominated the game throughout the innings. Every change skipper Shreyas Iyer made turned out to be effective as KKR kept picking up wickets. The KKR bowlers not only stemmed the flow of runs but also picked up some key wickets and did not allow SRH to come into the game. The spinners kept things extremely tight in the middle overs alongside the pacers who capitalized and picked up wickets. With such a tremendous bowling performance, KKR restricted SRH to a modest total of 113 and looked to chase it down with aggressive & positive intent and aimed to clinch their 3rd trophy.
The run-chase began as it has always begun from KKR, with aggressive intent and positive attitude right from the get go. The Gurbaz-Narine pair took on the SRH bowling right from the first ball as they looked to make light work of the chase. Narine started in dreamy fashion as he smashed his first ball for six, however he lost his wicket the next ball itself. With the wicket falling, out came in-form Venkatesh Iyer and to no one’s surprise he started off in an aggressive fashion. Gurbaz lost his wicket to an unfortunate lbw and it was upon the duo of the Iyers to finish it off for KKR yet again. Venkatesh and Shreyas finished the game off in supreme fashion as KKR became champions of IPL for the third time. A dominant performance not just in the final but all throughout the season ensured KKR would lift the title and they did it in outstanding fashion. An incredible season for KKR came to a conclusion in the sweetest way ever with a 3rd IPL TITLE.
