KKR 272/7 in 20 overs (Narine 85(39), Russell 41(19); Nortje 3/59 in 4 overs) beat DC 166/10 in 20 Overs (Pant 55(25), Stubbs 54(32); V Arora 3/27 in 4 overs) by 106 runs.

KKR’s bandwagon reached Vizag for their 3rd game as they clashed against DC in a contest that promised to be an exhilarating one. After winning two consecutive games, KKR looked to carry forward their winning momentum and bag a hat trick of wins. DC on the other hand also came into this game after a solid win. The two teams were eyeing an important victory and the fans were in for an absolute treat.

KKR chose to bat first after winning the toss on a belter of a batting surface. The Salt-Narine got into their work straight away as both batters teared into the DC bowling attack. Sunil Narine put on an incredible show of ball stringing as he almost hit everything out the ground. KKR lost Salt early but it was time for a dazzling debut of Angkrish Raghuvanshi. The youngster started off with two boundaries off Nortje with sheer confidence and elegance. Narine on the other hand continued his rampage and continued to smash the DC bowlers to all parts of the ground. Short ball, length ball, yorker nothing seemed to work against Narine as he scored 85 off just 39 balls which included a whopping 7 sixes and 7 fours. Meanwhile, Angkrish also reached his half century and became the youngest debutant to score a fifty in IPL history. DC looked to make a comeback in the game as they picked up the wickets of Angkrish and Narine in quick succession and hoped that the carnage would be over. Yet, there was not stopping the carnage as Dre-Russ walked in and did what he always does - Smash Sixes. Russell added more firepower to the already humongous total as he scored a quickfire 41 of just 19 balls. KKR reached a mammoth score of 272 at the end of their innings which was just 5 runs short of the highest ever total in IPL history.

KKR started off their defense of the mammoth 272 run total in style as Vaibhav Arora picked up the crucial wicket of Prithvi Shaw after a flurry of boundaries. Mitchell Starc also came to the party real quick as he dismissed both his Aussie buddies - Marsh and Warner. KKR continued to pick wickets at regular intervals and inched closer and closer towards winning the game. However, DC displayed some resilience with their captain Rishabh Pant and Tristan Stubbs scoring half-centuries and stitching together a good partnership. However, Varun Chakaravarthy removed both the batters in quick succession to establish KKR’s stranglehold over the game. DC were bowled out on 166 as KKR completed a huge 106-run victory and also their 3rd consecutive win of the season. KKR rocketed up to the top of the table after displaying sheer dominance on a night full of sixes in Vizag.
