KKR 116/10 in 20 Overs [ Angrkish Raghuvanshi 26(16), Ramandeep Singh 22(12); Ashwani Kumar 4/24 in 4 Overs ] lost to MI 121/2 in 12.5 Overs [ Ryan Rickelton 62*(41), Suryakumar Yadav 27*(9); Andre Russell 2/35 in 2.5 Overs]

On a day full of anticipation and excitement, the Kolkata Knight Riders faced off against the Mumbai Indians at the Wankhede Stadium. After an excellent win over the Royals, KKR looked to continue their momentum and pick up yet another victory. The fans buzzed with enthusiasm and were excited to watch their favourite stars on show.

After being put into bat first, KKR were rocked early with 2 wickets inside the first two overs. Captain Ajinkya Rahane and youngster Angkrish Raghuvanshi aimed to steady the ship and create a strong partnership. The two combined to play some crisp shots and provided some momentum to the innings, however, the partnership was broken by MI debutant Ashwani Kumar. The wicket Rahane triggered a collapse which KKR were never able to recover from. Most of the batters lost their wickets while taking the aggressive route leaving more and more pressure on the batters to follow. The shining stars in the innings were Angkrish Raghuvanshi and Ramandeep Singh, who tried to take the mantle upon himself to take KKR to a respectable total. However, KKR were skittled for a modest 116, leaving much to do for the bowlers in the second innings.

KKR set out in the second innings to defend the low score and pick up wickets in quick succession to put pressure on the MI batters. The pacers started well but the opposition batters were able to score runs at a quick rate and made it difficult for the KKR bowlers to control the game. The golden arm of the team Andre Russell picked up two crucial wickets and bowled his heart out in an effort to give KKR some chance. However, Ryan Rickelton’s superb innings and a SuryaKumar Yadav cameo in the end saw MI cruise to victory by 8 wickets. KKR will be looking to assess today’s performance and bounce back stronger in the next game.
