Kolkata Knight Riders returned to the Chepauk Stadium with many fond memories to look back at as they aimed to make more in the riveting clash against the Chennai Super Kings. After falling tantalisingly short against LSG, the Knights were raring to turn the tide in this upcoming game as they aimed to best the Super Kings in their home turf. With the conditions traditionally favouring their strengths, KKR were eager and gunning to take the field and deliver a memorable performance as two crucial points were on the line.

KKR started dominating the proceedings from the outset in the game after opting to bowl first on a pitch which looked to have some assistance for the bowlers. The pacers kept tight lines and did not allow the CSK openers to open their arms. An interesting tactical ploy played by captain Ajinkya Rahane of introducing Moeen Ali in the powerplay itself, paid immediate dividends as he dismissed Devon Conway. The pressure kept building as Harshit picked up the wicket of Rachin Ravindra on the first ball of his spell. KKR controlled the momentum right from the start and never allowed it to slip towards the opposition. Soon after the powerplay, the spinners laid a chokehold in the proceedings as CSK kept losing wickets and were allowed to establish no control over the game. The ever reliable Sunil Narine delivered an absolute masterclass as he picked up 3 wickets, giving away just 13 runs and broke the back of the CSK middle order. With excellent support from Varun Chakaravarthy and the other bowlers, KKR were able to skittle CSK to a modest total of 103 and aimed to chase the total down in quick time in order to bag the all important victory.

KKR started the run chase in blazing fashion as openers Sunil Narine and Quinton De Kock took the charge right from the first ball. Narine smashed his first ball for a massive six while De Kock didn’t wait around for too long. KKR openers were in a hurry as they dominated the powerplay allowing none of the CSK bowlers to settle. 71 runs from the powerplay nearly sealed the deal as skipper Rahane alongside Rinku Singh put the finishing touches as KKR chased down the total in just _ overs. With this victory KKR moved up to 3rd in the points table and will get a massive confidence boost as they move into their next games. KKR capped off the day with a complete team performance with sheer dominance and two points adding a lot of delight.
