Continuing their Commitment to Empower Underprivileged Youth in West Bengal Through Ongoing Sports Development Program and Vocational Training Initiatives
KOLKATA, APRIL 22nd, 2024: Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) and Meer Foundation concluded yet another successful edition of Knight Golf, the annual charity event dedicated to fostering the growth of young talent and empowering marginalized communities in West Bengal. The event held today (April 22nd), at The Royal Calcutta Golf Club (RCGC), reaffirms KKR’s commitment to sports development programs for children and vocational training initiatives for women.
Knight Golf has become a cherished tradition for KKR, bringing together the team’s management, players, and supporters for a day of golf in support of charity. The event is made possible through the generous support of partners, Principal Donor - Sugam Homes, Apparel Partner – Athletic Drive, Athleisure Partner – Aristocrat and OSL prestige as the automobile partner.
Building upon last year's successful endeavours, KKR remains steadfast in its mission to nurture budding athletes and provide opportunities for children from economically challenged backgrounds. With a special emphasis on empowering girls, KKR and Meer Foundation aim to break the cycle of poverty by equipping them with essential life skills and fostering a sense of inclusion for the underprivileged kids, within communities.
Commenting on the 7th edition of Knight Golf, Venky Mysore, CEO, Knight Riders, said, “At KKR and Meer foundation we recognize the transformative power of sports and believe that athletic pursuits not only promote physical well-being but also instill valuable attributes which are integral to character development in children. KKR aims to use sports as a catalyst for holistic youth development and women's economic empowerment, fostering sustainable progress. The Knight Golf event over the years is a testament to how consistent efforts in this direction have helped transform lives. We are extremely grateful to our players, support staff, and sponsors for their unwavering support over the years in making the Knight Golf event a huge success.”
Proceeds from Knight Golf will fund professional coaching, equipment, and nutritional support for children in sports programs, as well as vocational training for women. Meer Foundation will support these initiatives directly or by supporting other organisations working towards similar causes.
