In a thrilling encounter, the Kolkata Knight Riders edged past Kings XI Punjab (now known as Punjab Kings) by 2 runs at the Sheikh Zayed Cricket Stadium in Abu Dhabi.

After KKR elected to bat first, Dinesh Karthik displayed an array of strokes to give the innings a much-needed impetus in the final overs. With the middle order struggling, it was heartening to see Karthik produce one of his finest innings in this edition of the tournament. Coming in to bat at 63/3 in the 11th over, he stitched a valuable 82-run partnership with Shubman Gill for the fourth wicket.

While Gill played the role of anchoring the innings, Karthik took the attack on the opposition from the word go. His destructive half-century helped the team gain momentum at the back end of the innings and post a fighting total on the board.

The KKR bowling unit, led by Prasidh Krishna's three-wicket haul and Sunil Narine's economical spell of 2 for 28, helped the team emerge victorious in this thrilling encounter by 2-runs.
